Tzatziki Sauce - A Perfect Salad Dressing Recipe

INTRODUCTION:
Tzatziki Sauce is a delightful and versatile condiment that adds a burst of freshness to salads, wraps, or even as a dip. Made with a base of thick curd, crisp cucumber, and a blend of aromatic herbs and spices, this sauce is a must-have in your culinary repertoire. Let's dive into the easy-to-follow recipe that will elevate your salads to a whole new level.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Curd (Greek yogurt works well) - 150g
  • Cucumber - 100g, grated
  • Garlic cloves - 2 nos, minced
  • Mint leaves - 1/2 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves or dill leaves - 1/2 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Chaat masala - a pinch
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt, to taste

DIRECTIONS:

  • Peel and grate the cucumber. To avoid excess moisture, squeeze out the water from the grated cucumber using a clean kitchen cloth or paper towel.
  • Using the kitchen cloth or paper towel,  squeeze out the water from the curd. Skip this step, if you are using Greek yogurt.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, add the grated cucumber, hung curd, minced garlic, chopped mint leaves, chopped coriander leaves, red chilli powder, chaat masala, salt and lemon juice.
  • Mix all the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  • For optimal taste, refrigerate the Tzatziki Sauce for at least 1-2 hours. This allows the flavors to meld together, resulting in a more delicious sauce.
  • Once chilled, your Tzatziki Sauce is ready to serve. Use it as a refreshing dressing for salads, a flavorful dip for vegetable sticks, or as a condiment for wraps and sandwiches.
  • Store any leftover Tzatziki Sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be kept for a few days, but the fresher, the better!

CONCLUSION:
Add a burst of flavor to your meals with this homemade Tzatziki Sauce. Whether you're hosting a gathering or simply enjoying a quiet meal, this versatile dressing is sure to impress. Get creative with your culinary creations and let the refreshing taste of Tzatziki elevate your dining experience. Enjoy!
